TRNAVA

Spatial and Temporal Scale:

The project of revitalization has been realized in range of:

  • Roads and terrene arrangement (ways with crossroad, parking, footways)
  • Engineering network (rain sewage, public lighting, announcing conveyances-cable TV, remote cables, local telephone cables, waterline system)
  • Architectural mobiliari (outfit) – central relaxation space with little nature fountain, bus stops of public transport with advertising billboards, fencing for containers standing, benches, waste bins
  • Greenery and garden adjustment – planting of outgrow trees, hedgerows, scrubs and new grassy areas

Timetable of project:
1. phase - reconstruction of the first stage of Clementisa St.:

  • project preparation - study – 2001
    - project for building permission- 1. term 2002
  • construction starting- 4. term 2002
  • completion of building-up - 2. term 2003

2. phase – adjustment of adjacent public space:

  • project preparation - 2. term 2003
  • construction starting- 1. term 2004
  • completion of building-up - 2. term 2004

3. phase – reconstruction and completing of local communication Spartakovská:

  • project preparation – planned in 2005
  • construction and completion of building-up – planned in 2006/2007

4. phase – reconstruction of the second stage of Clementisa St.:

  • project preparation - planned in 2006
  • building-up in 2007/2008


Issues and Targets:
The content of revitalization project was given by volume of works described in previous section.

Objectives spotted by project of revitalization:

  • Restoration of breakdown engineering-technical condition of important drafty way on Clementisova St. and of engineering network, change of intersection crossroad Clementisova St.
  • Okružná St. into circle road crossing.
  • Understandable, functional and aesthetics definition of specified territory street space.
  • Slowdown of the traffic on renewed way by new latitudinal organization, restraining from parking on road, increasing of the safety of all road traffic participants, mainly pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Doubling of parking capacity.
  • New placement of public transport bus stops, building up footpaths, part of cycling way from planned city cycle road system
  • Relaying of the new directional communication line through the specified territory the way, it would be possible to place greenery in suitable location as an eliminative factor of dynamic traffic with negative effect on comfort zone for living in the adjacent blocks of flats.
  • Increase of greenery volume, initially uncoordinated planned by citizens to double amount.
  • Within the scope of the residence estate refurbishment, the idea was to establish the tradition for another similar damaged city areas to built-up cultivated, pleasant, public relax meeting places in a big, uncomfortable and anonymous suburban.

Management and Partnership description:
The city of Trnava was the initiator, the representative and investor of the project by its representatives of the city management after consultations with specialized departments of city hall.
The idea and concept of the first and second phases of reconstruction were elaborated in specialized departments of the local authority. The process was managed by competent city representative responsible for capital construction.


Key Stakeholders Analysis:
The main stakeholders are the subjects mentioned in the previous paragraph: municipality, land owners, then most likely also the trustee of the sport precincts and the universities.
Their opinions to the new use of the area are slightly different – while the municipality prefers also non-commercial functions (exhibition centre, entertainment and culture facilities, city park) and gives emphasis also to the public space, the owner of the factory prefers remunerative uses - such as business centres, shops, and luxurious housing.


Participation and Governance Improvement:
In the course of the project, there have been several meetings with the owners, representatives of the municipality, planning officers. Several participation workshops for the public were organised as well. After the community forum will be established, there will be a platform for participation in the implementation phase.
