This case study describes efforts to revitalise an area featuring poor quality, illegal buildings and lacking in basic social and healthcare facilities. The area is populated by various ethnic minority groups and conflict has arisen with the relocation of several thousand people, predominantly gypsies, into the area. The case study reveals how the strategic theme of 'music' has been developed as a pilot to launch the area's regeneration, boosting social and cultural development and strengthening relationships within the community.
